Program Expectations
This accreditation requires dedicated time and commitment. The program is designed to be completed in one year and includes 52 weekly modules, but participants are given up to 24 months to finish. Each module includes assigned reading from Doug Schoon’s Advanced Chemistry of Nails: A Modern Education Guide to Products and Nail Structure (required purchase), along with videos, written assignments, and peer review discussions designed to strengthen understanding and application.
Guest speakers will contribute throughout the program, and participants will be expected to complete homework, submit written papers, and pass both module-based exams and a final assessment in order to qualify for accreditation.
The level of work is comparable to a professional secondary education program. It is designed to challenge nail professionals to think critically, apply science at the table level, and communicate their knowledge with confidence. Although rigorous, the course is broken into small weekly chunks that can be completed at your own pace, making it manageable alongside salon life and other commitments.
Accreditation
Anyone with an interest in nail product safety and science is welcome to enroll and complete the modules to expand their knowledge. Those who are not licensed nail professionals will receive a Certificate of Completion recognizing their study.
Official Accreditation, however, is awarded only to licensed nail professionals who successfully complete all modules and assessments, demonstrating both knowledge and commitment to professional standards. In regions where licensing is not available, accreditation may be awarded to those who can reasonably demonstrate they are practicing nail professionals with client experience.
This accreditation is a professional recognition of education through the Healthy Nails Collaborative. It does not replace or override state, provincial, or national licensing requirements. Instead, it provides a globally recognized benchmark in nail product safety education that can be applied across diverse regions and regulatory systems.
The ultimate goal of this accreditation is to protect clients, elevate professional standards, and ensure nail technicians have the scientific knowledge needed to work safely with modern products.
This is not a quick tutorial or design class. It is a structured accreditation pathway for nail techs committed to raising standards, safeguarding client health, and advancing their careers.
